For those of you who follow along on Instagram, you are probably aware that Jason and I did an instagram live answering my most frequently asked questions. There were sooo many questions. You guys are awesome. Check out the recap of the questions below.

What lipstick do you wear in your photos? – I am usually wearing Smashbox liquid lipstick in the color Driver’s Seat. It is my fave color, but it can be drying. Make sure your lips are moisturized before applying.

Do you blog full time and what did you do before blogging?- At this very moment in time, I blog full time, but will be doing office work part time with Jason’s company. My college degree is in Human Biology and I am a science nerd! I wanted to go to medical school or graduate school for Physician Assistant, but life took me in another direction. For the past 3 years, I was managing the in-home care for children and adults with varying diagnosis and disorders. I developed their care plans with the family/client and managed their services and staff based on their individual needs.

What does Jason do for work?- Jason works full time at his family’s construction company. He works in sales and does their social media marketing. We are lucky because he has off January through March, due to the winter weather. This gives us lots of time to work on the blog.

What tips do I have for new bloggers?- There are actually so many tips! I am a new blogger myself and take each experience as a learning experience. The biggest tip is to stay true to your brand and to yourself. Create unique content and be genuine. People will start to notice if you are fake or if your are copying someone else. Also, find a good domain, host and theme for your website. You want to make sure it is NOT a free domain. You want to own your domain and be in charge of it. Another tip is to put in the work. Know going into this that it is ALOT of hard work and it is time consuming. You want to make sure that it something that you want to do before starting.

How do you grow your instagram?- There, unfortunately, is not one specific thing that will grow your following. It is really just hard work and a little luck. I say luck because there are some people who post just at the right time with the right photo and end up blowing up overnight. This is RARE! Most of us, have to put in the work. This means being social on social media. Like and comment on others photos, send DM’s to brands and reposting pages, and be engaging on stories and live. People want to follow someone they can relate and feel like they know. It is also super important to bring value to your followers and to post consistently with high quality content.

Make sure you are growing your following organically and not buying likes or followers. This will seriously hurt you and your credibility. Brands and PR companies will catch on to this and feel like they can’t trust you. When someone has tons of followers, but little engagement on their photos, it is a dead giveaway that they bought their followers.

Also, try to stay away from loop giveaways. I made the mistake of entering a few of these when I first started. You have to pay to enter and the followers that you do get, do not stick around. They only follow you to try to win something free. If you want to do a giveaway, do it with a blogger you trust or with a brand your trust. Keep it, again, authentic.

How did Jason and I meet?- We actually met in high school! We flirted with each other sophomore and junior year, before dating senior year. The rest is history! I am one lucky girl!

How do I edit my photos?- I am currently using 4 apps: snapseed, facetune, VSCO and lightroom. I do not use each app every time I post. It really depends on the lighting and individual photo. You can check out how I edit my photos HERE.

Where do I get my outfit inspiration?- This one if tough because I feel like I just come up with it on a whim. I follow along with fashion week and the big bloggers as well, but I feel like I put my own twist on outfits. I never copy someone’s look exactly. I might really like their top, or their pants and then make it my own. Right now, I am loving Olivia Culpo and We Wore What!

Thank you again for all your questions. It was so much fun interacting with you. Please let me know if you have further questions or would like more information.
